RACISM AND DISCRIMINATION

You are not alone. We are standing up against racism

YOU, ME, AND THEM: DISCRIMINATION IN FINLAND

Racism and Discrimination can have devastating effects on mental health, especially when experienced more than once. Racism can be caused by several factors such as fear, prejudice, stereotyping, and ignorance. At SAMHA we do not tolerate any form of racism or discrimination. Every human has the fundamental right to be treated equally and with respect.
For the annual campaign of the United Nations Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (starting March 21st) 2021, SAMHA ry is announcing a racism video contest.
You are all invited to show your support, fight racism and participate in the campaign. We encourage people to raise discussion and take part in the conversation about racism and submit a video for the chance to win a prize.

Guidelines:
Send us one or two videos answering the following questions.

  1. How do you feel about racism and discrimination, especially in Finland?
  2. How have you been personally affected by racism or discrimination?

We kindly ask you to send us the videos via google drive or we transfer or via email to social@samha.fi,
(Tip: bonus points for filming horizontally with clear audio and for posting your videos on your own social media and tagging us @samha_ry). Challenge others to take part in our contest, and use the hashtags: #samhaxracism #endracismtoday when posting on social media!

The top three videos will win a prize. All submitted videos have the chance to appear on our website and social media.
We hope that by sharing your experiences and ideas of racism and discrimination we can help start the conversation about racism and discrimination in Finland. Together we can put an end to the daily racist and discriminatory encounters people face.

It can be therapeutic for yourself and help inspire others to understand that they are not alone, and there is hope.

Your story can remain anonymous if you choose. Additionally, we will always contact you and explicitly ask permission if we want to reuse your story to help others.

If you would like to just submit your story or experiences without sending video, please fill out the form below. We are happy to hear your story in any format you wish.
